I.e. Dance Lesson Packages
Introductory Program
When starting dance lessons, our Introductory Program is the best way to get acquainted with the partner dance scene. Beginner to Advanced student friendly, our Introductory Program is a way to test out our studio. We want you to see if it is the right fit for you while learning the basics of multiple dances.
This program includes four 40-minute private dance lessons. Further, we can set these up anytime between 1:45 PM and 9:30 PM, Monday-Friday. You’ll also get two of our fun 40-minute group classes (we have them every night at 7:15 PM) and one of our Friday night club practice parties.
People typically start here and depending on their current skill level, either move through General Variety and beyond, or jump to their Bronze Medalist Program.
General Variety Program
The General Variety Program is the blueprint for the impatient dancer. It develops free movement around the floor and gives more variety. Additionally, it adds a little technique and footwork to your basics. This is your first introduction to basic styling. General Variety is a four dance plan, meaning you will focus on learning moves in four different dance styles (see our styles of dance page). Therefore, this is very popular with those who want to be able to go out and social dance comfortably.
Bronze Medalist
The Bronze Medalist Standard is the most popular Standard because it results in good all around comfortable dancing. You feel at ease on the dance floor with any partner. Bronze dancers look forward to musical changes because they can dance proficiently to a variety of music. They maintain sufficient knowledge of patterns at their disposal. The Bronze Medalist Standard is a very desirable dancing goal to attain when continuing to take dance lessons.
FAQ: What does Standard mean in Ballroom Dance?
The medalist “Standard” refers to how the skills you develop on each level are standardized throughout the country. Most ballroom dance studios operate on a medalist system or the DanceSport class system (equivalent to each other), while they use slightly different syllabi to teach, the end goal remains very similar.
Silver Medalist
The Silver Dancer has an accomplished look and stands out on the dance floor. The knowledge is easily maintainable after acquired. The Silver Medalist Standard gives you additional variety, continuity, style, and polish. It represents the completion of the majority of the social dance elements and introduces flowing movement through style and continuity.
Silver dancers move competently and easily on a crowded dance floor even with less skilled partners. It can help you acquire a deeply satisfying sense of accomplishment and self-improvement. The stylish silver dancing can help you to be more self-assured socially and can bring happiness and pleasure to your life.
Gold Medalist
Gold Medalist Dancers express themselves with graceful continuity of movement. They hold their partners’ interest through the use of musical rhythm just as one holds another’s interest in good conversation. The Gold Standard represents a skillful and perfected performance. Every motion should be so beautifully and effortlessly performed that it brings pride to the dancer as well as being a pleasure to watch.
Those who choose to progress to the Gold Standard must want to excel in dancing as well as acquire a permanent and rewarding hobby. Although an advanced level and lofty goal, Gold Medalist Dancing is within the reach of most people who are willing to apply themselves toward attaining this goal.
